Conflict of Interest

Conflict of Interest

The Jurnal Gizi dan Dietetik Indonesia (Indonesian Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics/JGDI) is committed to maintaining transparency, impartiality, and ethical integrity throughout the scholarly publishing process. A conflict of interest arises when financial, personal, professional, academic, or other relationships may influence, or reasonably be perceived to influence, the conduct of research, the interpretation or reporting of findings, the peer-review process, or editorial decisions.

Disclosure by Authors

All authors are required to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest relevant to their submitted manuscripts. Such conflicts may include, but are not limited to, employment relationships, consultancy arrangements, shareholdings, honoraria, research funding, sponsorship, personal relationships, professional affiliations, academic competition, or other interests that could compromise, or appear to compromise, the impartiality of the research and its reporting.

Authors must also disclose all sources of financial and material support and, where applicable, describe the role of funders or sponsors in the study design, data collection, data analysis, interpretation of findings, manuscript preparation, and the decision to submit the work for publication.

Conflict-of-interest disclosures must be provided at the time of manuscript submission. If no relevant competing interests exist, authors must explicitly state that they have no conflicts of interest to declare.

Disclosure by Reviewers

Reviewers are required to inform the Editor of any circumstances that could affect their independence or objectivity when evaluating a manuscript. Relevant circumstances may include financial interests, personal relationships, professional affiliations, research collaborations, supervisory relationships, academic rivalry, or other connections with the authors or the research under review.

Reviewers who identify a conflict that may compromise their impartiality must notify the Editor promptly. The Editor will determine whether the reviewer should proceed with the assessment or decline the invitation. Appropriate measures will be taken to preserve the fairness and integrity of the peer-review process.

Disclosure by Editors and Editorial Board Members

Editors and editorial board members must disclose any competing interests associated with manuscripts under their consideration. Such interests may arise from personal relationships, financial involvement, research collaborations, professional affiliations, or direct participation in the work being assessed.

An editor who has a relevant conflict of interest must not oversee the review or make publication decisions concerning the manuscript. Editorial responsibility must instead be assigned to an independent editor who has no relevant competing interests. This arrangement ensures that editorial decisions are based on scholarly merit, relevance, and the quality of the peer-review assessment rather than personal, professional, or commercial considerations.

Management of Conflicts of Interest

The Editor is responsible for assessing disclosed competing interests and determining whether further action is necessary to protect the integrity of the publication process. Depending on the circumstances, such action may include requesting additional disclosures or clarification, appointing an alternative reviewer, transferring editorial responsibility to an independent editor, or implementing other appropriate safeguards.

If a previously undisclosed conflict of interest is identified after publication, the Editor will assess its potential implications for the reliability and transparency of the published record. Where warranted, the journal may publish a correction, an additional disclosure, or another appropriate editorial notice.

All conflicts of interest will be handled fairly, proportionately, and transparently, in accordance with applicable publication ethics standards and relevant recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
