Plagiarism Screening Policy

Indonesian Journal of Management and Accounting (IJMA) is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical scholarly publishing. All submitted manuscripts must be original, properly referenced, and free from plagiarism. To ensure compliance with these standards, IJMA requires authors to conduct a plagiarism screening before manuscript submission.

1. Mandatory Plagiarism Check Submission

All authors are required to conduct a plagiarism check using Turnitin or equivalent similarity detection software before submitting their manuscripts to IJMA.

Authors must upload a plagiarism similarity report as a mandatory supplementary document during the manuscript submission process through the journal's Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.

Manuscripts submitted without a plagiarism similarity report may be returned to the authors for completion before proceeding to the editorial screening stage.

2. Plagiarism Detection Tool

IJMA uses Turnitin or equivalent similarity detection software to evaluate manuscript originality. The editorial team reserves the right to conduct an independent plagiarism screening to verify the similarity report submitted by the author.

3. Similarity Threshold

IJMA applies a maximum similarity index of 20%. Manuscripts must have an overall similarity score below 20% to meet the journal's initial screening requirements.

Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be returned for revision or rejected during the initial editorial screening.

Meeting the similarity threshold does not automatically guarantee acceptance, as all manuscripts remain subject to editorial evaluation and peer review.

4. Interpretation of Similarity Reports

The editorial team evaluates similarity reports by considering both the overall similarity percentage and the nature of the matched content.

Similarity resulting from commonly used academic terminology, properly cited quotations, and standard methodological expressions does not automatically constitute plagiarism.

However, unauthorized reproduction of text, ideas, data, or substantial portions of previously published works without appropriate acknowledgment is strictly prohibited, regardless of the similarity percentage.

5. Editorial Actions

If plagiarism or significant textual overlap is identified, the editorial team may request manuscript revisions, reject the submission, or take further action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their manuscripts and the accuracy of the plagiarism reports submitted to IJMA.
