Abstract
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and obesity are major health issues among the elderly that require early detection efforts and continuous education. This community service activity aims to increase health awareness and prevent NCDs through health screenings and CERDIK-based education using BOOKLETS at the Integrated Health Service Post for the Elderly (Posyandu Lansia) in Dusun Pungkuran, Bantul. The method used is a participatory approach with interactive education using health guidebooks that include CERDIK guidelines, healthy low-sugar, low-salt, low-fat recipes, as well as information on herbal plants (soursop, turmeric, celery), followed by measurements of blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and Body Mass Index (BMI). The program was conducted at two locations: the Pungkuran Integrated Health Post (Posyandu) and the Suren Kanoman Integrated Health Post (Posyandu). Fifty-three elderly residents participated in hypertension education and screening, while 34 underwent blood sugar checks and 39 underwent BMI measurements. The screening results revealed that 30 elderly residents had grade 1 and 2 hypertension, 5 elderly residents were diagnosed with diabetes mellitus, and 17 elderly residents were overweight or obese. Public enthusiasm was very high, marked by active participation in check-ups and interactive discussions about medicinal plants (soursop, turmeric, celery) as well as the implementation of a CERDIK lifestyle. A home visit approach was carried out for elderly individuals with mobility limitations. This activity successfully increased public awareness of the importance of early detection of non-communicable diseases and controlling risk factors through healthy behavior changes, supported by a booklet as a reminder tool at home.
